The Hot Mallorca Summer Is Ending. Is Your Autumn Marketing Plan Ready?

Aug 22

Summer in Mallorca is rarely a quiet time for business owners.

If your company works in hospitality, yachting, tourism, property, events, wellness, retail or any of the industries supporting the island’s busy season, the past few months may have been dominated by clients, bookings, deadlines and solving whatever needed your attention that day, as well as living in the hot weather, with an extra million people on the island....

Even businesses that are not directly seasonal feel the effect. Clients travel, schedules change, team members take holidays and marketing decisions are repeatedly postponed until September.

That is understandable. When the business is busy, delivering the work has to come first.

But as summer begins to slow down, it is worth asking an important question:

Is your marketing ready for autumn?

So... what happened to your marketing this summer?

Many Mallorca businesses do not deliberately stop marketing during the summer. It just simply becomes inconsistent.

  • The blog you meant to write was never finished.

  • The newsletter was postponed because you didn't know what to include.

  • Social media became a series of last-minute posts created whenever you found a spare ten minutes.

  • The photographs from an event, project or client success are still sitting in a folder waiting to be used.

  • The website page you wanted to update still contains last year’s information.

None of this means you have failed. But it does mean your marketing has been reactive rather than planned. The danger NOW is allowing that pattern to continue into autumn.

Five signs your Mallorca marketing plan needs an autumn reset

1. You are posting without a clear purpose

You may still be publishing on social media, but the posts are not connected to a wider business goal.

Before creating anything, ask what you want the content to do.

  • Should it help people discover your business?

  • Build trust?

  • Explain a service?

  • Generate an enquiry?

  • Encourage somebody to join your mailing list?

If you cannot answer that question, you are creating activity rather than a marketing strategy.

2. Your website has not been updated recently

Your website should be one of your strongest marketing assets.

Unlike a social media account, it belongs to you. A useful website can help clients find you through Google, AI search, recommendations and links shared by other people.

Take a good look at your website as if you were a prospective client: does it clearly explain what you currently offer? Are the photographs recent? Can people see examples of your work? Is there an obvious way to contact you?

If your business has changed but your website has not, now is the right time to bring it up to date.

3. You have plenty of ideas but nothing gets finished

Most business owners do not have an ideas problem: they have notes on their phones, saved Instagram posts, voice recordings, unfinished captions, photographs and half-written blogs.

The difficulty is finding enough uninterrupted time to develop those ideas and publish them. An idea has no marketing value while it remains in your notebook.

Choose one useful subject to make content about and finish it before starting another.

4. Every platform is being treated separately

Your blog, newsletter, social media and video content should not require completely different ideas.

One strong subject can become:

  • A useful website article

  • Several social media posts

  • A short video

  • An Instagram carousel

  • A newsletter section

  • A conversation with prospective clients

  • Search content that continues working after publication

This is far more sustainable, strategic and focused than trying to invent something new every day.

5. You do not know what you are promoting next

A marketing plan does not have to be complicated, but it should support what the business needs.

  • What do you want to sell during September, October and November?

  • Which services need more visibility?

  • What questions are clients asking?

  • What seasonal opportunities are approaching?

Your autumn marketing should be built around those priorities.

Start with a simple autumn marketing plan

Your autumn marketing plan for a Mallorca business can begin with four decisions.

1) Decide what you want to achieve

Choose one or two clear objectives. You may want to generate enquiries, promote a particular service, reconnect with previous clients, improve website visibility or build your email list. Trying to achieve everything at once usually creates unfocused content.

2) Choose your principal subjects

Identify three subjects that connect your clients’ needs with the services you want to promote. For example, a property business might focus on preparing a home for sale, understanding the local market and avoiding common purchasing mistakes. A restaurant might focus on seasonal ingredients, group bookings and the people behind the menu. A wellness business might focus on returning to routine, managing stress and building sustainable habits.

3) Create one strong piece of content each week

A useful and current blog page gives the rest of your marketing somewhere to begin. It allows you to explain an idea properly, demonstrate your expertise and create something that can be discovered through search. You can then adapt the article into social posts, videos, newsletters and conversations without repeatedly starting from nothing.

4) Put time in the diary

Marketing rarely happens because somebody hopes to find time for it.

Schedule the writing, recording, design and publishing as you would schedule client work. Even two focused hours a week in our Content Club can move an idea from an unfinished note to a published piece of content.

Autumn is an opportunity to rebuild

September does not need to become another month of reacting.

It can be the point at which you review what has been neglected, decide what your business needs and build a more connected approach to marketing.

At Phoenix Media Mallorca, we help businesses turn their ideas, expertise and regular conversations into content for websites, social media, newsletters, search and PR.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing practical ways to plan, create, finish and publish your autumn marketing.

For now, begin with one question:

What is the marketing task you have been putting off all summer?

Choose it, schedule it and finish it before autumn becomes another reactive season.
